Precautionary Measures – The Pandemic Wuhan Coronavirus Infections

Precautionary Measures – The Pandemic Wuhan Coronavirus Infections

By: ASAS School

January 29, 2020

We refer to the Public Health Advisory (by MOH), and MOE’s announcement on additional measures to enhance the protection of school students against the Wuhan coronavirus infection.

Taking reference from the measures announced by MOE, CPE has directed all PEIs to undertake similar measures with immediate effect to help protect our students and staff. This is to ensure a coordinated effort on everyone’s part to protect our citizens and residents.

1.To enhance the protection for our students and lectures of ASAS against the Wuhan Coronavirus infection, MOE will be implementing a Leave of Absence (LOA) for students and staff returning from Mainland China. The LOA will be valid for 14 days period, starting from the day after the arrival in Singapore. The LOAs’ applies to students and staff from ASAS who return from China (including Hong Kong and Macau) on 14 January 2020 or later.

2MOE had instituted a range of measures including issuance of advisories to remind students and staff to practise good hygiene habits and how to stay safe during this period.

3.ASAS would require any students who have travelled, to declare their Travel History and advising those who have travelled to China to take temperature regularly for 14 days. The latest LOA measure allows MOE to better mitigate the potential risks posed by travel in our schools and institutions, while enabling them to continue with their usual learning and other activities.

3.1You are strongly advised to avoid travel to Hubei province in China and defer all non-essential travel to the rest of mainland China.

3.2If you have travelled or will be travelling between 14 January 2020 to 31 March 2020, you are to submit a Travel Declaration form to ASAS.

 4. If you have travelled to and returned from China (including Hong Kong and Macau) during the period 14 Jan 2020 to 31 Mar 2020,  you are to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) which valid for a period of 14 days, starting from the day after arrival in Singapore.

Further measures are extended to visitors who come in for walk-in consultation

  • Health Banner for Visitors: If you have travelled to China between 14 Jan 2020 to 31 March or not feeling well (eg. cough, flu, or sore throat), please reschedule your appointment with us.

MOE strongly advises students and their families to monitor their health and adopt good personal hygiene habits.
